Hong Kong Young Physicists' Tournament 2025 (HKYPT 2025)
Held from November 2024 to February 2025, HKYPT 2025 consists of two rounds:
1. Preliminary round: Online submission. Each team needs to prepare a presentation video (12 mins max.) of one YPT problem. The video and commentary must be in English.
2. Final round: The finalist teams will engage in face-to-face physics fights against the other teams.
Eligibility
All Secondary Schools in Hong Kong could register as competitors. Each school should send at most two teams of 2 to 5 secondary 1-6 full-time students in 2024/25 school year and should have an adult/teacher supervisor as Team Manager.
Application (Platform opens from 18 Oct 2024 to 1 Dec 2024)
Applications should be submitted via HKYPT 2025 Application form by the Team Manager.
*Each school can send a maximum of two teams for the tournament. Please register each team separately.
**Note that the two teams from the same school must not report the same problems in both preliminary and final round, i.e. in total they must report 2 different problems during the preliminary, and 4 different problems during the Final.

*An acknowledgment email with login credentials to the Submission Platform will be sent to the Team Manager/ Teacher Coordinator after Part I of your application has been submitted successfully. Team Manager / Teacher Coordinator is required to log into the Submission Platform to complete Part II of the application and to upload the preliminary round submission. Team Manager / Teacher Coordinator who does not receive the email must contact the HKAGE by the application deadline for verification.
**Once the application form is submitted, NO FURTHER CHANGES can be made.

Preliminary Round Submission
Each team needs to prepare a presentation video (maximum 12 minutes) of one YPT problem (for the official problem statement, visit: Problems | International Young Physicists' Tournament). The video and commentary must be based on English. All sources of work should be properly cited, including but not limited to equations, diagrams, graphs, experimental data, etc. The video, along with the presentation PowerPoint (including a reference page in PDF format), should be uploaded to Google Drive, and the link must be submitted via the online submission platform on or before 31 December 2024 11:59pm.
Adjudication
Preliminary submissions will be adjudicated by the panel of judges who are mainly the physics professors from the universities in Hong Kong based on their:
1. phenomenon explanation
2. theory/model
3. relevant experiments
4. comparison between theory and experiment
5. own contribution
6. task fulfilment
7. science communication
*Final round physics fights will be adjudicated according to the IYPT score sheet by the panel of judges. Please refer to the reference links below for more details.
