The 2nd Young STEAM Talent Award
The "Young STEAM Talent Award"(少年創科達人大獎) is an exciting initiative crafted to discover and cultivate exceptional students driven by a fervour for innovation, problem-solving, and creativity. The aim of this Award, jointly organised by "G3 Alliance" comprising of Centum Charitas Foundation, The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, and the Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum, is to create a dynamic platform that enables young individuals to unleash their imaginative ideas, cultivate critical thinking abilities, and make a constructive difference in their communities. By addressing the demand for talent development, we aspire to empower gifted youth to utilize their skills for the betterment of society and emerge as leaders in the realms of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices.
Objectives
- To enable a territory-wide search for gifted young STEAM talents in Hong Kong;
- To make available further learning and research opportunities for STEAM talents;
- To raise awareness in schools and the public on the importance of STEAM education and its possible contribution to sustainable society;
- To nurture a pool of future STEAM talents for the advancement of Hong Kong;
- To facilitate young STEAM talents to contribute to the well-being of humankind and inspire them to become future ESG leaders.
Eligibility
To be eligible for entering this Award, applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Secondary 3 to 6 (or equivalent) full-time students studying in registered whole-day Secondary schools in Hong Kong;
- Enter the Award as an Individuals; group applications are not permitted;
- Must have carried out an individual or group STEAM-related project within the 2 academic years prior to this Award (the research project must have been started no earlier than September 2022).
Category
Applicants are required to submit ONE original and innovative STEAM-related research project report related to the following categories (more than one category may be selected):
- Aerospace Technology, Physics and Mathematics
- Biology and Medical Science
- Chemistry and Environmental Science
- Engineering and Innovation
- Information Technology and Art Technology

Online Application
Online Application will be closed at 5:00 p.m., 10 February 2025. Please read the Application Procedure carefully:
Attention: Applicant MUST complete all parts (1. Account Registration, 2. Online Platform, 3. Document Upload) for the application to be considered complete.
1. Account Registration
Upon completion of "Account Registration", applicant will receive an acknowledgement email with their Applicant Number and password for logging into the "Online Platform", as well as the link for "Document Upload".
2. Online Platform
Login to the "Online Platform" using the Applicant Number and password provided in the acknowledgement email. After filling out the form, you may save the form and then click "Submit and Logout". Once the application is submitted, it cannot be changed.
3. Document Upload
In addition to submitting application through the "Online Platform", applicant must upload the relevant documents. The "Document Upload Guideline" outlined the document list, template, and upload steps.

Nominator
- The applicant should provide one nominator's information and submit one reference letter;
- The nominator and the referrer should be applicant’s current or former school principal or teacher, mentor, instructor or university academic;

Grooming Initiative
Once the right students are identified and recruited, a well-structured nurturing programme will be implemented to help them fully realise their potential and excel in their talented areas, while also fostering their commitment to contributing to society with innovative minds:
- Celebrity Talks: Prestigious leaders in their fields will be invited to share their personal experiences;
- Study Visit: Exposure to cutting-edge technology and social situations;
- STEAM Mentorship: A mentor will be matched with reference to the awardees' research needs.
Opportunities would also be made available for the awardees to share their learning and research findings to the public.

Trailblazing Partnership
The Centum Charitas Foundation, The Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, and The Council of the Hong Kong Laureate Forum have jointly formed the "G3 Alliance". The Alliance shares resources and establishes a platform for cultivating outstanding talents to align with the development of a student talent pool in accordance with the Policy Address by HKSAR Chief Executive. The alliance is centered around the concepts of "Gifted, Groom, and Giving", integrating these elements to better nurture future leaders in sustainable development, and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG).
